US Hands Russia Revised Peace Framework While EU Complains of Total Exclusion

EU Kept in the Dark as Washington Delivers New Peace Plan Parameters to Moscow

European diplomats express frustration as Washington quietly sends Moscow the updated Ukraine peace plan while EU officials remain shut out of the details.

EU Diplomats Say They Receive No Access to the Updated Peace Plan

European officials largely do not know the contents of the revised peace plan, which negotiators keep under tight secrecy, according to Politico, which cited a senior EU diplomat. The diplomat said the authors of the new version hide it deliberately to avoid the uproar that erupted earlier after the leak of the original 28-point proposal.

“From a diplomatic point of view, this is an unprecedented situation. None of us has access to this information,” the source said.

US Transfers Peace Plan Parameters to Russia Ahead of Talks

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the United States sent Russia the parameters of a peace plan shaped during American-Ukrainian negotiations in Geneva. He said a follow-up discussion will take place in Moscow next week.

“The main parameters were delivered — and next week there will be a conversation in Moscow,” Peskov said.

Earlier, the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump shrank from 28 to 19 points after the November 23 negotiations between American and Ukrainian delegations.

Putin Signals General Support for the US Proposal

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow generally agrees with the points in the US peace proposal on Ukraine. He noted that the American draft agreement could serve as the foundation for future arrangements.
