The fifteenth International Exhibition and Conference Offshore Northern Seas will take place in Stavanger, Norway between August 27 and 30. According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, the Russian delegation will include experts from geological research institutes in St. Petersburg and representatives of LUKoil, YUKOS and Gazprom. The delegation will be headed by Deputy Minister for Natural Resources Pyotr Sadovnik.
According to experts, the participation of Russian representatives will allow mutually beneficial contacts to be established with foreign investors. During the visit, the Russian delegation intends to hold talks with officials of the Norwegian Ministry of Oil and Energy and to sign a 'Programme of cooperation within the framework of the Russian-Norwegian dialogue on questions of natural resources and the environment'.
The biannual exhibition Offshore Northern Seas is the most important international event connected with oil exploration and production. During the conference, political, economic and technical questions related to the industry are discussed at a high level. A Russian delegation has attended the exhibition since 1998. This year around 30 thousand people are expected to visit the exhibition, which has a total floor area of 19,000 square metres.
