The North Caucasian command of the Russian Frontier Service has been deploying additional reserves to the Russo-Georgian border in the past 24 hours.
According to the press service of the North Caucasian Department of the Russian Frontier Service, servicemen assigned to the Itum-Kale border unit are continuing to search for bandits who have probably managed to survive the breakthrough from the Pankisi gorge.
According to the source, an operation to reinforce the border is being carried out in conjunction with units of the Joint Group of Forces in Chechnya. Possible bandit travel routes have been "blocked and are being patrolled," the press service reported.
