Russia is to help Poland upgrade its air force's Mig-29 planes, according to Polish deputy defence minister Janusz Zemke.
According to the Polish newspaper Gazeta Vyborcha, an agreement to jointly upgrade the Polish planes will be signed during Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov's visit to Poland at the end of September. At the same time an agreement on cooperation between the Russian company that manufactures Migs and the Polish company WZL is to be signed. After this, it is expected that Russia will regularly send spare parts and equipment to Poland for its planes.
In addition, said Zemke, talks are already in progress on a similar agreement relating to Mi-24 helicopters.
