'Cooperation between Russia and NATO is at a very high level,' said NATO Secretary General George Robertson today at an informal meeting of NATO defence ministers in Warsaw. According to the Polish news agency IAR, Robertson added that 'today's meeting will be particularly significant'.
As an example of cooperation between Russia and the alliance, the Secretary General highlighted the work of the NATO-Russia council and the four working groups devoted to the problems of eliminating terrorism. Robertson expressed the hope that this cooperation will lead to concrete joint measures.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov arrived in Poland yesterday at the invitation of Polish Defence Minister Jerzy Szmajdzinski. It is his first visit to Poland for eleven years.
