The forthcoming Russian-Thai talks will focus on combating international terrorism and meeting other global challenges. This was disclosed by official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko on the eve of the visit of Thailand's Foreign Minister Surakiat Sathianthai scheduled for September 29th.
According to Yakovenko, in the course of the forthcoming talks between the heads of foreign-policy departments of Russia and Thailand the sides are expected to discuss the strengthening of global peace, international and regional security, disarmament with an accent made on the importance of reinforcing multi-lateral regimes of non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons, the UN role, the Middle East settlement, the situation on the Korean peninsula and around Iraq, and some other topics.
The priority attention will be paid to the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, expansion of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). The sides will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation within the APEC framework, Yakovenko said.
