In the North Caucasian republic of Ingushetia, which borders on Chechnya, unidentified persons robbed Al-Ghimras Badr Muhammad, an employee of the Red Crescent Committee of Saudi Arabia, reported a source in the Chechen Interior Department.
Earlier, the Russian interior ministry told RIA Novosti that the official had been robbed on the outskirts of Ordzhonikidzevskaya Stanitsa, Ingushetia's Sunzhen district on Monday.
Three robbers wearing camouflage uniforms stopped a Zhiguli car under the pretext of checking documents. Threatening the Saudi with a gun, they robbed him of 300,000 rubles /about 10,000 dollars/ and 5,000 dollars.
Failing to seize the robbers immediately after the robbery, police launched an investigation and a search for the criminals.
According to law enforcers, the Saudi had been moving from the Ingush airport, with a North Ossetian driver at the wheel. The robbers left the scene on a silver-coloured VAZ-2110, taking the keys and documents of the Zhiguli.
