US Vice-President receives Russian and US participants in Houston energy summit

US Vice-President Dick Cheney has received in the White House Russian and US participants in the power-engineering summit at the ministerial level in Houston, Texas. The Russian side was represented by Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref and Energy Minister Igor Yusufov. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham and Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans were US participants in the reception.

RIA Novosti quotes German Gref as saying that the results of the first Russian-US energy summit were summed up at the meeting, and a decision was made to continue the dialogue and take necessary specific steps within the framework of bilateral cooperation in power engineering.

Diplomatic sources told RIA Novosti that the US Vice-President spoke for the development of energy dialogue with Russia. He stressed that the US administration supported all these initiatives laying a particular stress on the necessity to expand direct contacts between power engineering businessmen.
