Russia's share in Greece arms market is 8-10% out of the total purchase amount

The share of Russia's arms and war technology exports to Greece has reached 8-10% out of the total purchase amount, said the Head of the Russian delegation at the 12th "Defendory International-2002" international exhibition, said Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Technical Military Cooperation with foreign countries Alexander Denisov in an interview to the press.

"The figures are significant if we take into account that this country is a NATO member," he said. "We hope that others pick up the trend," noted Denisov.

According to him, the exhibition goal has been met. This time Russia was displayed as a unity, the exposition was set up by the "Rosoboronexport" state federal enterprise.

The exhibition has proved that Russian arms and war technologies exporters "have their niche in Greece as well as in other neighbouring countries", stressed the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on technical military cooperation with foreign countries.

"For instance, a Russian T-80 tank opened the Independence Day Parade held on October 1 in Cyprus," said Denisov.

The Deputy Chairman noted that the "former East Bloc allies, including Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia and Czechia, have once again turned to Russia." Answering the question on the latest trends in the international arms market Denisov noted that "in the future, the share of aviation in the total export volume will be decreasing, while the share of air defense and navy will go up."
