According to representatives of the Crimean authorities, a number of Ukrainian media outlets provide biased coverage of the events on the peninsula. Therefore, the "flow of false information" will be closed, officials said.
The statement released by the press service of the Council of Ministers of the Crimean autonomy, in particular, noted that many media outlets had been involved in the information war. The war has two objectives: to cause panic among the Crimeans and distribute a wrong picture about the situation.
"The events that take place in the Crimea receive biased coverage in the Ukrainian media. On television talk shows and news programs, they do not present either the viewpoint of the Crimean residents of the Crimean authorities," the document says.
The authorities of the autonomy also stressed out that the new leadership of Ukraine declare democratic values, which, among other things, involve the right to access truthful information.
"We have to state that the people of Ukraine have been deprived of the right. Therefore, if the negative media campaign continues, the Crimea will disable Ukrainian TV channels in order to protect the population from negative effects of their broadcast.
