A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will visit Moscow, Tbilisi and the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia between October 28th and November 2nd.
RIA Novosti learned from the PACE Strasbourg headquarters that the aim of the visit was to "make PACE's contribution to the peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Georgia over the possible presence of Chechen militants in Georgia's Pankisi Gorge." The delegation consisting of 8 parliamentarians from a number of European countries, as well as Russia and Georgia, is going to the Caucasian region at the joint proposal of Russian and Georgian parliamentarians that was expressed at PACE's autumn session in Strasbourg in late September.
The PACE delegation will hold official meetings first in Moscow and then in the capital of Georgia.
The PACE delegation is planning a visit to the Pankisi Gorge for October 31st, where they will meet with the military and local authorities.
