A meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Igor Ivanov with his counterpart from Peru Alan Wagner took place in Los Cabos (Mexico) on October 27th.
As RIA Novosti was told in the information and press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the sides confirmed coincidence of the approaches of Russia and Peru to the problems of international security, strengthening the central role of the UN in world affairs, and making its bodies more efficient.
The Ministers pointed with satisfaction to the progressive character of the Russian-Peruvian political contacts at different levels and mapped out ways to deepen interaction of the two countries in international and regional organisations, as well as within the bounds of the dialogue of Russia and the Rio Group.
The prospects of cooperation between Russia and Peru in the trade-economic sphere, specifically in the fields of fisheries, the mining industry and power, were discussed in the course of the meeting.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Peru highlighted the importance of broadening and actualising the contractual-legal base of bilateral relations, the Russian foreign-policy agency said.
