Of the total number of respondents in the poll conducted by the Polish Instytut Spraw Publicznych in the Kaliningrad Region, 40% believe that Poland's and Lithuania's joining of the European Union will aggravate economic situation in the region. The poll was conducted from August through October this year, its results published in the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
About one third (27%) of the respondents are undecided, while 14% believe there will be no effect either way.
The majority of the respondents (70%) believe that traveling to mainland Russia will become difficult, 15% saying they expect no effect and another 15% undecided.
