There still remain "legal and technical" problems in the matter of extraditing the Georgia-detained Chechen militants to Russia. In this diplomatic formula the Russian Security Council secretary Vladimir Rushailo, after a meeting in the Kremlin with his Georgian analogue Tedo Dzhaparidze, worded to journalists on Tuesday the acute problem in relations between the two countries. At this meeting they discussed the extradition to Russia of the armed Chechen terrorists detained by Georgian border guards on the Russian-Georgian border on August 3 to 5 this year.
Rushailo recalled that there exists on this problem mutual understanding reached by the Russian and Georgian leaderships and a decision has been taken. Now "we have learnt information which is mostly of the technical-legal nature", said Rushailo. This information is now in discussion by the two countries' prosecutor's offices, he added.
In turn, Tedo Dzhaparidze noted that this question is complex and is being considered "on several planes - juridical and political". "Some other problems will be considered and handled by the prosecutor's offices of the two countries", said Dzhaparidze.
