President of Belorussia may not receive a visa for arriving in Czech republic to attend NATO summit

Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Cyril Svoboda assumes that President of Belorussia Alexander Lukashenko may not receive a visa for arriving in the Czech Republic to take part in the NATO summit.

In his interview given to the Czech radio, the minister did not exclude that the question of giving the Czech visa to the Belorussian President will be considered at today's session of the government. According to Cyril Svoboda, the ministers want to check the information that on Tuesday one of the leaders of the opposition, Alexander Lebedko, was detained outside the Embassy of the United States to Minsk. He may be accused of an attempt of the coup d'etat.

"We are convinced that it is necessary for us to express a certain solidarity with those who are fighting for human rights and democracy," stated the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs. "In connection with this, I do not exclude the possibility that a visa may not be given even to the head of the state," he added.

The Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that Prague, as the receiving side of the NATO summit, is conducting intensive consultations about giving the entry visa to Alexander Lukashenko with the headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels.
