Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is under investigation in a prostitution case involving a 17-year-old girl.
Reports say the PM is being investigated over whether he exerted improper pressure on police officers to have the Moroccan girl released when she was held over theft allegations, Sky News reports.
In a statement today, the lawyers said that the allegations raised by the probe had already been denied by the main figures in the case. They called the probe a "very serious interference in the private life" of the prime minister.
The reported investigation concerns Karima El Mahroug, otherwise known as Ruby Rubacuorior Ruby Heartstealer, a then 17-year-old Moroccan girl who told investigators last year that she had attended parties at Berlusconi's villa near Milan. One of these, she was reported to have said, ended in an erotic game known to participants as "bunga bunga", The Guardian informs.
