A clinic in southwestern Germany has identified the true parents of two mixed-up infant girls.
The St. Elisabeth clinic in Saarlouis said genetic tests had proved who the rightful parents of the two girls are. The girls were most likely mixed up this summer while being bathed, the clinic said.
The two babies - who have now been with the wrong parents for a half year - will be switched back in the coming days, with psychologists on hand to help with any problems the families may have, said local councilwoman Monika Bachmann.
The mix up came to light after one of the fathers took a paternity test and then - when it was determined he was not the father - his wife did the same and learned she was not the mother.
