A pack of stray dogs mauled to death a British woman in a Bulgarian village.
Ann Gordon was attacked by the animals as she was walking her own dog on Tuesday on the outskirts of Nedyalsko in southeastern Bulgaria, the state BTA news agency said.
An autopsy confirmed that she died of multiple bites, BTA quoted local medics as saying. Ilia Donev, a doctor at the district hospital, said Gordon died on the spot.
Children tried to help the woman but were also attacked by the dogs, BTA reported. It said authorities later removed four strays from the scene.
Gordon owned a house in Nedyalsko, where she lived for the past two years.
Local authorities said her family wished to bury her in Britain.
Nearly 50,000 British nationals have bought property in this former communist country in recent years, mostly in rural areas.
