The hopes of a nation to host the biggest festival in world football rest on one book as England 2018 delivered its FIFA World Cup bid in Zurich on Friday. England 2018’s bid book contains 1,752 pages and details the country’s vision for the tournament. They are competing with Russia, the United States, Australia, Portugal & Spain and Holland & Belgium to play hosts in eight years time.
The winning bid will be announced in Zurich on December 2. The book was presented to FIFA President Sepp Blatter at FIFA House by the bid group's vice president David Beckham, who headed a five-person delegation. This also included 17-year-old South African teenager Nothemba Bambiso, FIFA Executive Committee member Geoff Thompson, FA Chairman Lord Triesman and England 2018 Chief Executive Andy Anson, Goal.com says.
England , who last hosted the World Cup in 1966, are among the favorites to win the race for 2018 and football icon David Beckham handed over their bid book to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Beckham, who was a key figure in Britain's successful bid for the 2012 Olympics, said his country's love of football would be key, CNN reports.
