Russian Maria Sharapova pulled out of the WTA tournament in Beijing, with a total prize fund of $585,000, after her semifinal match.
Top seed Sharapova played her compatriot Maria Kirilenko, pulling out with the score of 4:6, 1:2.
Prior to that, Kirilenko and Sharapova had met only once in a professional tournament in Los Angeles, earlier this year, with Sharapova emerging the winner. In the finals, Kirilenko will face ninth-seed German Anna-Lena Gronfeld, RIA Novosti reports.
