The Moscow government approved the list of major events required to nominate the Russian capital as a candidate city to host the Olympic games of 2012.
Thus, in October this year programs of information support of Moscow as a candidate-city to host the Olympic games will be developed and approved. By October 2004 they intend to finalize Moscow's application book and in November this year it will be presented to the International Olympic committee.
The venue of the Olympic games of 2012 will be selected at the session of the International Olympic Committee in July 2005.
The previous experience of holding prestigious sport competitions gives grounds to consider Moscow quite a real candidate to hold 30th Olympic games. The city possesses a well-developed sport infrastructure including facilities which already now can be used to hold Olympic tournaments. Among them one might single out Luzhniki, Olympiisky and Locomotiv sport complexes. Other sport facilities after their reconstruction might be used to hold Olympic competitions. Among them are CSKA, Dynamo and Torpedo stadiums, the rowing basin in Krylatskoye and the equestrian and sport center in Bitsa. In order to conduct Olympic games Moscow has to build a number of sport facilities: a track and field stadium, a tennis center and a number of others.
According to sociological surveys, 87% of Muscovites support the idea of holding the XXX Olympic games in the Russian capital.
In addition to Moscow more than 15 cities intend to claim the right to host the Olympiad-2012, among them are Paris, New York, Istanbul.
