A joint performance in the Cleopatra opera by Russian star singer Nikolai Baskov and Spanish opera diva Moncerrat Caballe is challenged. It is through the fault of the Air France company that Baskov's luggage with exclusive stage costumes from Valentin Yudashkin has been lost, reports the Baskov producer centre "Music, perfection and beauty".
The unpleasant story began yesterday. On his way from Moscow to Barcelona via Paris for the participation in a Roman opera festival to open within the next few days, Baskov was serviced in the French capital by the Air France company. However, on coming to Spain, he found no cases of his and his wife Svetlana, which contained, apart from Yudashkin-made costumes, also notes, piano scores and the star's personal belongings. It is, in addition, diamond clips and a diamond tie pin that have disappeared.
"Cleopatra's general rehearsal scheduled for tomorrow as well as the first night announced in a few days are likely to be disrupted as the singer simply lacks the attire to appear on the stage," says the producer centre.
An appeal to the Air France's Moscow office through which the tickets were obtained has brought no results, with the associates displaying no commitment.
Baskov and Moncerrat Caballe are rather upset with the developments but hope that the luggage lost will be found.
Similar incidents haunt other stars as well. Thus, Australia's Peta Wilson known in Russia for the Nikita series arrived in Moscow to find no luggage of hers at the terminal.
