A presentation of the website 300online.ru is to take place today at the International Press Centre in St Petersburg.
The website www.300online.ru, developed by the Rosbalt news agency, is intended to become the main internet resource into which all information on the preparations for St. Petersburg's tercentenary will be concentrated. The aim of the project is to present St. Petersburg as an international business centre and the cultural capital of Russia, to attract the attention of Russian and global society to the town, to its history, and to perspectives for its further development. Two of the main tasks of the site are to give the public as much information as possible on the preparations and performance of tercentenary celebrations, and to discuss the work of the International Press Centre and the tercentenary committee. The website's creators hope that the project will become a major source of news on arrangements for St. Petersburg's tercentenary, and of information about the life, history and the current social and political situation of the northern capital for Russian and Western media.<.
At the website's opening ceremony, business and political representatives of Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as culture and arts figures will take part, including: Advisor to the Presdent Sergey Yastrzhembsky, Speaker of the St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly Sergey Tarasov, German Consul General Ulrik Shoning, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Nataliya Vatozhok, Deputy Plenipotentiary to the President in the Northwest Federal District Yevgenii Makarov, Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky et al. At the presentation, a knowledge quiz on St. Petersburg will take place. Ladoga Holdings are sponsoring the quiz, and the company's General Director, Benjamin Grabar, will present each of the five winners with valuable gifts.
