Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov is through to the semi-final of the Halle tennis tournament. Kafelnikov scored a difficult victory over German player Bogdan Ulihrach with the result 5:7, 6:3, 6:4. Now, the Russian player will challenge Kennet Carlsen, Denmark, who has quite surprisingly outplayed the former world leader Tomas Johansson making 7:6, 7:3 and 6:3 in three sets.
Another Russian player failed to become one of the four tournament's leaders. Roger Federer, Switzerland, who is number two seed at the tournament, outplayed Mikhail Yuzhny in two sets 3:6, 4:6.
