The success of the operation to raise the nuclear submarine Kursk from the floor of the Barents Sea was guaranteed by good relations between Russian and foreign partners, said Franz van Seumeren, President of the company Mammoet, as he inaugurated the opening of an international photo exhibition entitled, "The Kursk. Special Task Expedition." According to van Seumeren, it was a great honor for his company to have participated in a difficult project like the raising of the Kursk. "Well-coordinated work of all participants in the operation made it possible to prepare and effect the operation to raise the sunken submarine," he stressed.
The exhibition, which opened in St. Petersburg earlier in the day, features around 150 photographs, many of which were made public for the first time. From St. Petersburg, the exhibition will move on to Murmansk, then to Kirkenes, Denmark and Holland, and back to Russia again.
