After lifting fragments of the first compartment of the Kursk nuclear submarine, the State Commission, jointly with the Prosecutor's Office, "will announce the causes of its wreck," Ilya Klebanov, Chairman of the State Commission for the Investigation of the Causes of the Kursk Submarine's Wreck and Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, told reporters.
He expressed the hope that the operation for lifting fragments of the first compartment would be finished by the end of June if weather remains favourable. Fragments of the first compartment are necessary for the State Commission and the Prosecutor's Office to draw final conclusions about the causes of the Kursk's wreck. Ilya Klebanov noted that after the joint statement is made on the causes of the wreck, the Prosecutor's Office will most likely continue the investigation within the framework of a criminal case.
