The traditional festival of Japanese films opens in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Sakhalin island, Russia's Far East) on Monday. The audience will be shown five fiction films, including dramas, a thriller and a comedy. This will be the 35th screening of Japanese films on Sakhalin. The Japanese Consulate General in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is the organiser of the current film festival. Earlier, traditional Japanese film festivals were held in other cities of the Russian Far East - Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
