The Russian ice-hockey team trounced Italy 7:0 in the opening world-championship match, depriving their rivals of any chances to improve the score, writes the Berliner Zeitung. This is an exemplary Russian victory, the paper notes, emphasizing the fact that even five Italian players were unable to overwhelm three Russians. The Russian ice-hockey team was a complete disappointment during the previous world championship back home; however, those players, who keep vying for the Russian cup all the time, now account for nearly 100 percent of the team's line-up. The Russians displayed their professional and numerical superiority over that "helpless" Italian team, thus making it into the D sub-category without any trouble at all after the first match in Hannover.
