A protest rally against the replacement of leaders of the Russian NTV television company, which was organised Saturday near the Ostankino TV centre in Moscow, was held in a quiet atmosphere without any excesses.
As Moscow law-enforcement agencies informed RIA Novosti, they did not have to block traffic in the street where the TV centre is located. According to the data of the police, from 5,000 to 5,500 people took part in the rally. The rally was held on the initiative of the Russian Journalists' Union. Apart from members of the Journalists' Union and NTV journalists, those who took the floor at the rally included Grigory Yavlinsky, leader of the Yabloko faction in the State Duma, and Valeria Novodvorskaya, leader of the Democratic Union party.
