Elena Guscha, a spokeswoman for the female sector of the unregistered organization for protection of gays’ rights in Belarus, advised that there would be an international conference of sexual minorities held in the city of Minsk (the republic of Belarus) on March 8 and 9. The representatives of the female sexual minorities will take part in the discussion, which will be called “The lesbian movement of Belarus and the foreign experience.”
The major issue on the agenda will be the problem of liquidation of the crisis of the lesbian movement in Belarus. Guscha informed that the representatives of the Swedish sexual equality league would conduct the training sessions for the Belarussian lesbians, and also share their international experience of struggle to protects the gays’ rights.
Elena Guscha also advised that the American lesbians will also participate in the conference. And she added that the lesbians from Russia, Ukraine, from the Baltic countries, and from several countries of the western Europe would not be present for financial reasons.
