Russian President Vladimir Putin is convinced that Russia has correctly assessed the new threats to the national security. The head of state disclosed this when opening the annual session of the Armed Forces General Staff on Monday. As the president stressed, "an analysis of the rapidly changing situation over the last months has shown that we have rightly judged the new threats to national security." According to him, terrorism not only threatens individual countries, but strategic stability of all global systems. "The terrorist goal is to acquire access to weapons of mass destruction, and bio-terrorism has already become a factor of today's reality," said Vladimir Putin. All this, he continued, demands that the priorities of defence policy need to be more precise, including in the area of international military technical collaboration.
