Six telecommunications satellites are ready to be delivered to orbit. These Kosmos- and Gonets-class satellites will be launched into space by one booster rocket from the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan in December. According to the press service of the Scientific and Production Association of Applied Mechanics located in the Zheleznogorsk town near Krasnoyarsk, the Kosmos-class satellites are military ones, while the Gonets-class apparatus will be launched to establish communications with remote regions of the Earth. In particular, experts from the St. Petersburg Institute of the Arctic and Antarctic will be able to get information directly from the Vostok station located in the vicinity of the South Pole.
