At midnight on Monday, the MNVK, or the Moscow Independent Broadcasting Corporation, was taken off the air of the TV6 channel as the corporation's license was temporarily suspended by order of the Russian ministry for press, television, radio broadcasting and mass communications. The decision to take the MNVK off the air was made by the arbitration court of Moscow and bailiffs of the Central Administrative District of Moscow.
The controlling block of MNVK shares belongs to the well-known Russian magnate Boris Berezovsky.
At 7 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, TV6 began airing sports programs. Temporary broadcasting on TV6 will continue until a new license is issued for the winner of an upcoming bid for this frequency.
