PM Approves Concept Of Modernization Of Education

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has decided to approve the Concept of Modernization of the Russian Education for the Period until 2001, prepared by the Education Ministry of Russia in cooperation with interested federal agencies. The Government Information Department reported that in accordance with the Prime Minister's instructions, the Education Ministry should inform federal agencies, regional agencies, educational institutions and educational workers about the concept as well as work out a set of measures intended to implement the concept. Federal and regional agencies have been instructed to take the provisions of the concept into account during the work on measures to provide state support for the education system and during the implementation of federal and regional problems of development of education.
