Two doubles involving Russian women went into the third round of Australian Open doubles.
Elena Bovina, in tandem with Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne, beat the Ukrainian-Czech duo Elena Tatarkova/Renata Voracova. The one-hour-fifty-one-minute showdown left the Russian and the Belgian victorious 6-7 (3-7) 6-0 6-0.
Bovina and Henin-Hardenne will now face the tournament's second-strongest double yet, Virginia Tuano Pascual (Spain)/Paola Suarez (Argentina), who on Saturday won against the Russia-France duo Maria Sharapova/Marion Bartoli 6-3 2-6 6-1.
In another match, Russian Nadia Petrova teamed up with veteran Spanish player Conchita Martinez to beat Netherlands-Romania tandem Anousjka Van Exel/Andreea Vanc 6-2 4-6 6-1.
In the next round Petrova and Martinez will play against Russia's Anna Kournikova and America's Chanda Rubin
