The main military prosecutor's office of Russia called upon the mass media to provide objective information on the Kursk submarine tragedy, which sank during exercises in the Barents Sea in 2000.
Prosecutor office's executive Alexander Nikitin condemned the position of some mass media outlets, at a press conference on Friday, which published the words of Moscow lawyer Boris Kuznetsov who doubted objectivity of the investigation effort.
The Main Military Prosecutor's Office spokesman declared that investigation into the "Kursk" tragedy was full, comprehensive and unbiased. He stressed that all the actions of officials connected with the preparation of the submarine for the exercises and with the rescue operation were investigated. These actions "are not in causal relation with the "Kursk" tragedy," said Mr Nikitin.
According to him, the Russian and international public, all the relatives of perished seamen, representatives of the Navy and of the defence industry were acquainted with the materials of the criminal case. All of them were satisfied with the level of investigation, MR Nikitin pointed out.
