The seventh international exhibition 'Saint Petersburg Jeweler-2002' opened today in the Manezh exhibition hall in Saint Petersburg. About 500 jewelers from Russia, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Armenia, the Ukraine and other countries are exhibiting classical and innovative jewelry using precious and semi-precious stones.
The main event at the exhibition will be the jewelry competition in different categories such as 'The Magic of Luxury', 'Classical Perfection', 'Discotheque', 'Plastic Virtuosos', 'Jewelry Innovation', 'Successful Debut', 'Philosophical Understanding of the Image' and others. The grand-prix 'Olympus' prize, a figure of a lion which was created by company Russian Knight and made out of silver with gilding and rubies, will be awarded for the best piece regardless of category.
The exhibition is being organised by the union World of Stone and is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg. It will finish on December 22.
