Lolita Garmin's Russian lawyer unable to attend legal proceedings in US

Lolita Garmin's (the mother of the girl, who was kidnapped in Moscow and transferred to the US) lawyer might fail to participate in legal proceedings, which are to take place in the US on September 17th this year.

On Friday the official spokesman for the US embassy informed lawyer Sergei Kadyrov that he would receive the American visa only a month later, Natalya Somova, the grandmother of the kidnapped Amilia, said in her interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Kadyrov, in this case the proceedings in the state of Ohio will be attended only by an American representative, who is just a public litigant. However, to submit additional materials on the case of kidnapping to the court, the presence of the Russian side - the Anti-Organized Crime Department's (UBOP) officer, who investigated into the case, and a lawyer - is necessary, Kadyrov specified.

In this connection he pointed out that the UBOP representative was likely to fail to participate in the proceedings, "for his trip must be financed from state funds".

Amilia Garmin was kidnapped in Moscow on July 19th. Criminals broke into the flat where the girl lived, tied her mother and grandmother down, made them sedative injections and took the girl away.

Since the kidnapping the girl's father has been the major suspect. According to Lolita Garmin, her former husband is mentally disordered and treated the child severely.

On July 26th the girl was spotted in a US resort town by FBI officers. She was with her father, the one who had organized the kidnapping. According to preliminary information, the child was transported through Ukraine.

Mr Garmin addressed US legal bodies with a demand that they leave the girl in America, saying that "he would never let her return to a country like Russia."
