The 44th Moscow International Jewellery and Watch exhibition "Jeweller 2002" opened on Tuesday in the Russian capital.
Among the organizers is the Russian association Jewellers' guild and the Russian diamond extracting company ALROSA, as RIA Novosti learned at the organizing committee. Representatives of the leading Russian and foreign firms working on the diamond market will take part in the one-week exhibition.
The exhibition will host a conference on developing the domestic jewellery market in connection with Russia's forthcoming admission to the World Trade Organization.
The Jewellers' guild expects that the preparatory stage for the jewellery market after joining the WTO should be 5-7 years, which would be enough for adjustment to new competition conditions.
