Russia’s Main Christmas Tree Decorated in the Kremlin

Kremlin’s New Year Tree Shines with 2,500 Ornaments and 2.5 km of Lights

The Kremlin has decorated the country's main New Year tree, according to a report citing a correspondent from RIA Novosti.

The festive tree was installed on Cathedral Square in December and has now been fully decorated.

The tree has been adorned with multicolored ornaments, beads, garlands, and a wide variety of decorative toys. This year's design focuses on decorations that imitate frosty patterns.

Thousands of Ornaments and a Winter Color Palette

In total, around 2,500 decorative elements were used, including snow globes, ice crystals, LED pendants, beads, and icicles with a running-light effect. The tree is also illuminated by approximately 2.5 kilometers of shimmering garlands.

The color scheme features pearlescent tones designed to reflect the sparkle of ice crystals. The winter palette is complemented by shades of white, gold, and blue.

Eco-Friendly Plans After the Holidays

The tree will remain on display in the Kremlin throughout the holiday season, until January 20. Afterward, it will be sent for recycling.

Traditionally, the wood will be used to produce bird feeders and nesting boxes, which will be distributed to educational institutions involved in environmental protection and ecological projects.

In addition, seeds collected from the pine cones will be planted in tree nurseries across Russia.

A Century-Old Tree from the Moscow Region

It became known nearly two weeks ago that Russia's main New Year tree had been delivered to the Kremlin. The fir is approximately 100 years old and was brought from the Ruzsky District.

The tree features an impressive 11-meter branch span and a 64-centimeter trunk circumference, making it a striking centerpiece for the country's most important holiday celebrations.
