A 77-year-old streamer from Nizhny Novgorod, known to audiences as Babushka Olga, has become the winner of the NNYS award in the category Best Gaming Moment of the Year. Her real name is Olga Ivanovna, and she is now the oldest winner in the history of the award.
During the live broadcast of the ceremony, organizers announced that Ivanovna received 32 percent of the total votes, securing first place and setting a new age record for the competition.
The award was granted for a memorable moment in Counter-Strike 2, during which Olga Ivanovna single-handedly eliminated all five players from the opposing team. The clip quickly gained attention within the gaming community for both its technical execution and the age of the player behind it.
The NNYS award is organized by Swedish streamer Nick Oberhagen, better known online as NymN. The annual event has been held consistently since at least 2019 and recognizes standout moments, creators, and achievements in the global streaming and gaming scene.
Olga Ivanovna’s victory has been widely celebrated as a powerful reminder that competitive gaming is not limited by age. Her success resonated with viewers around the world, challenging stereotypes and inspiring both younger and older audiences alike.
Olga Ivanovna’s streams on Twitch are followed by 246.9 thousand subscribers. In her profile description, she wrote:
“My name is Olga, I am 77 years old, and I am a pensioner. I decided to become a streamer, and I am no longer a beginner here. When I play, I forget about everything else; you could say I escape from my worries, learn how to control things, and discover the world of computer games, because in my generation there was nothing like this.”
By profession, she is a food service process engineer. The pensioner began streaming in January 2021 after her grandson gave her a touchscreen phone. She watched videos of other streamers on YouTube and decided to start her own broadcasts. “Retirement is very boring,” the streamer admitted. Today, she has 41.6 thousand subscribers on YouTube.
In addition to CS:GO, she plays Minecraft, Metro, Tomb Raider, Bioshock, Atomic Heart, and Diablo 2.
“Every morning I wake up with one thought: I want to play and spend as much time as possible with you, my dears. I really enjoy playing, and I am happy that at my age I can discover something new. No one in my life has ever been able to force me to do anything, and sometimes, my dears, if I am silent, it is because I am concentrating on the game and cannot always respond. Please forgive me for that,” she wrote about herself.
Outside streaming, the pensioner takes care of ordinary household chores and often cooks.
