Drivers of Porsche vehicles in Russia reported that their cars suddenly failed to start, Shot Telegram channel said. Most complaints came from motorists in Moscow, Krasnodar, and other major cities.
Dealers explained that the issue likely stems from a widespread communication system failure. Another potential cause is a malfunction in the factory-installed alarm system, which controls vehicle locking. As a temporary solution, owners were advised to disconnect their car batteries for approximately ten hours. Many drivers had to hire tow trucks to transport their vehicles to service centers due to the breakdowns.
Since the beginning of 2025, Porsche’s total vehicle deliveries have decreased by eight percent compared to 2024, totaling around 71,000 units. Sales in Germany fell 34 percent in the first quarter to 7,495 units, in other European countries deliveries dropped by 10 percent to 18,017 units, and in China shipments decreased by 42 percent to 9,471 units.
North America remains a major market, with 20,698 vehicles sold in the first three months of the year.
Russia aims to cut the share of foreign vehicles on its market to 20 percent by 2035, according to Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov. He noted that last year Russian cars accounted for 44 percent of the market, increasing to 55 percent in 2025, thanks to a comprehensive set of industrial subsidies.
Alikhanov added that Russia currently offers a wide range of vehicles, with more than 20 brands and 50 models available, including sedans, crossovers, pickups, and off-road vehicles.
