Boris Yeltsin is satisfied with his holidays in the Saratov region on the Volga, regional governor Dmitry Ayatskov told a news conference on Monday.
Russia's first president together with his wife has been spending his holiday since August 5 on the picturesque island of Chardym on the Volga, 25 km from Saratov.
Ayatskov said that the ex-president "likes very much vacationing here", especially since a fine sunny weather is contributing to good rest.
Yeltsin is a confirmed angler. "He went fishing yesterday and caught 40 fishes with his rod," the Saratov governor said.
According to Ayatskov, Yeltsin looks very well. The first Russian president rises early in the morning and goes to bed late at night, taking daily walks.
On Sunday Yeltsin had a stroll through Saratov's Kirov Avenue, and watched a football match between Saratov Sokol and Moscow Spartak.
According to Ayatskov, the first president makes no political plans. "I have done my job and laid down the foundations of the new Russia, and now it is for you to continue the construction," he said in a conversation with the governor.
