On Thursday, St. Petersburg will host the ninth international conference "Woman in the Changing World".
The conference has been initiated and organised by the St. Petersburg Social and Economic Institute and Social Department of the Council of Europe, the forum's organisational committee told RIA Novosti.
The forum is being conducted under the support of the Northern Countries' Ministerial Council, Finland's government, Russia's Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the department of federal national service of employment in St. Petersburg as well as the governments of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
The conference's main topic will be "women's contribution to the society's social stability".
On Thursday the plenary session will gather representatives from the Council of Europe, heads of the Association of Italian and Spanish Entrepreneurs, representatives from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Tajikistan as well as legislative and judicial authorities representatives, scientists, entrepreneurs, heads of public organisations in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad region and cities of Russia's northwestern region.
For two days the participants of the conference are supposed to be discussing such issues as women's social and economic rights, their position on the labour market, problems of women's employment and health as well as protection of women's labour.
