Police in Manhattan are searching for a man who robbed a bank in the city last week using a bunch of flowers.
Dubbed the 'bouquet bandit' by some of the American media, the man entered a Bank of Smithtown on Seventh Avenue in Chelsea carrying a bunch of flowers.
He then took a note from the bouquet demanding money and passed it to the teller, who complied with his request.
The robber then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving his flowers behind, I Florist reports.
According to New York Daily News, the brightly colored blossoms masked the thief's dark motive. "He's walking in with flowers so people think, 'Oh, he's a nice guy!' " a police source said.
The robber ditched the dye pack and ran, making off with the cash, police sources said.
The robber, who struck shortly before 9 a.m., was described as a black man in his early 30s, about 5-feet-9. He wore a Navy blue T-shirt, jeans and white sneakers.
