Friday police first tried to interview Woods, 33, but his wife Elin Nordegren asked if they could return the next day because he was sleeping. Woods shooed them away Saturday and again on Sunday.

In an e-mail Sunday, Wood's IMG agent Mark Steinberg said: "We have been informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that further discussion with them is both voluntary and optional. Although Tiger realizes that there is a great deal of public curiosity, it has been conveyed to FHP that he simply has nothing more to add and wishes to protect the privacy of his family," Us Magazine reports.

It was also reported, authorities have released a 911 call related to the Tiger Woods car accident. The call was placed by Woods' neighbor who relayed information from the scene to dispatchers. The man told the operator that Woods was laying on the ground and he was unsure if the golf great was still breathing. The call cuts out several times as it seems the neighbor was using his house phone which may have been limited in range but the chaos from the scene comes across quite clear, Baltimore Sun reports.

Meanwhile, in a statement on his website, the golf star also praised his wife Elin Nordegren for trying to help him at the scene outside their home in Isleworth, Orlando, when she saw he was hurt.

"This situation is my fault and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me," wrote the 33-year-old.

"I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."

He went on: "The many false, unfounded and malicious rumours that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

"The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble.

"She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false."

Police have released a tape of an emergency call made by one of Woods' neighbours after the golfer smashed his Cadillac into a fire hydrant outside his home, Sky News reports.
