The father of the boy who once accused Michael Jackson of molestation has committed suicide, authorities said Tuesday. Beverly Hills dentist Evan Chandler, 65, was found dead in Jersey City, N.J., in a luxury waterfront apartment.
A Jersey City official said Chandler was found in bed with a single gunshot wound to his head. He was still holding the gun when the body was found.
A source confirmed the death, which occurred on Nov. 5. Police said it does not appear that he left behind a suicide note, FOX News reports.
According to New York Post, Chandler died a broken man, gravely ill and estranged from his entire family, loved ones said, living out his days in sad isolation 17 years after Jackson first infected his world.
Once a stunningly handsome and prominent Beverly Hills dentist, Chandler saw his life turned upside down by his son's claims -- enduring the collapse of his practice and physical assaults, and driven to disguise himself with repeated plastic surgeries to avoid abuse from rabid Jacko fans.
Jackson was never charged with a crime, paying Jordan a staggering $20 million to end the probe into allegations he had molested the boy at Neverland Ranch and various other LA locations.
Jordy, now 29, has never spoken about it publicly. He met Jacko in 1991 when the singer''s car broke down near a car rental agency owned by Jordy''s stepdad.
He subsequently told Mr Chandler after being put under an anaesthetic to have a tooth removed that Jackson had touched him. Following the furore surrounding the case, Mr Chandler had extensive cosmetic surgery, making him virtually unrecognisable.
Jordy took out a restraining order against him in 2006, claiming he attacked him with a dumbbell. In 1996, Mr Chandler filed a $60million lawsuit against Jackson and his then-wife Lisa Marie Presley.
He claimed they breached the terms of a confidentiality deal by talking about the case in a TV interview, Mirror.co.uk reports.
