Breast cancer had attacked governor Jodi Rell

Rell underwent surgery yesterday after doctors found the cancer last week.

The 58-year-old Brookfield resident had a &to=http://engforum.pravda.ru/printthread.php3?threadid=84752&perpage=15&pagenumber=3' target=_blank>mammogram, which led to the detection of a cancerous lump in her breast. At about noon on Monday, she had a mastectomy and reconstructive breast surgery at Danbury Hospital.

Beside that Rell asked that people not send cards, flowers or gifts during her hospital stay. Beyond that, Danbury Hospital would say little about Rell, referring inquiries to the governor's office. On Monday evening, the office reported that Rell's surgeon – who was not identified – had described Rell's surgery as successful and that "everything looks very good." The governor's office would not say which breast had the mastectomy.
