According to the Heliogeophysical Center of the Applied Geophysics Institute under Rosgidromet (Russia's State Committee for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Control), a powerful solar flare was registered at 5.30 a.m., Moscow time, on Thursday.
"The flare appeared in a rapidly expanding active solar region. It is expected very soon to become a source of large flares," Rosgidromet said.
The radiation situation will remain unperturbed.
The magnetic storm triggered by the solar flare is to be expected on July 18, scientists forecast.
