Cruise and Cruz divorced

It's official. Tom Cruise is a bachelor again for the second time in three years. The end to his steamy romance with Penelope Cruz has left them friends instead of lovers.

According to Penelope's publicist, the Spanish beauty did not start dating Cruise while they were working on Vanilla Sky, which was about the same time he announced he was divorcing Nicole Kidman.

Cruz she and Cruise did not fall into each other's arms until divorce papers were filed and he was legally on his way to being a bachelor. Apparently, Penelope provided the shoulder Tom needed to cry on when Nicole's lawyers started drawing up the terms of their divorce, report canoe.ca

The couple met in 2000 while working together on the Cameron Crowe-directed film "Vanilla Sky" and began dating in July 2001 after Cruise's decade-long marriage to Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman fell apart.

A source said Cruise, 41, and Cruz, 29, ultimately split up because of the difficulty of maintaining a relationship while spending much of their time apart in distant locations making movies. Cruise, a three-time Oscar nominee and star of the recent historical action drama "The Last Samurai," is currently in pre-production on a third "Mission: Impossible" film.

Cruz, who was last in theaters co-starring with Halle Berry in the thriller "Gothika," is now in Morocco filming the action movie "Sahara," Garlock said, inform reuters.com
